Purchasing and Cost EstimatingOur ideal candidate is professional, precise, an excellent record keeper, open to learning, acutely aware of the potential for errors and works diligently to avoid them, checks and double checks information, exhibits a consistently high level of accuracy in communication and forecasting, is not afraid to ask for information or help, and is an effective negotiator.
Summary:
Ordering materials for all aspects of the business. Every order needs to be sent for a quote, purchase orders written and approved, and vendor quotes checked against the original request for discrepancies. All purchases are coded to a project. After a period of time in this position, cost estimating will be added to the responsibilities.
Responsibilities: Purchasing
• Review purchase requests and coordinate with fabricator to insure accuracy of the order
• Ensure parts and materials are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time
• Research products, materials, and fabrication techniques
• Write and manage purchase orders
• Maintain information databases for vendors, ordering, pick-up and delivery, and shipping
• Negotiate new vendor contracts, including discount structures
• Set up and track shipments
• Oversee the return/refund process for purchases when necessary
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations (for ordered materials)
• Track project costs by labeling all activities with the proper job code
• Works with project tracker and bookkeeper to create checks and balances for project budgets
Experience & Education:
• Proficient use of computer
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient use of general office equipment including copier/fax/scanner and multiline telephone system
• Require good math skills
• Require good people skills
• Experience in bookkeeping or cost management or cost estimating is required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory
• Knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques a big plus

Summary:
The fabrication shop assistant needs to be able to lift 50 to 70 lbs. Experience with hand tool. Tasks include packaging products to ship, building custom wood pallets and crates, accurately recording packing slips, sandblasting, sanding, assisting the painter with packing and unpacking the paint booth. Sometimes this job requires long days in the sandblast booth. This requires that you wear a protective suit and hood, and it can be warm.
Responsibilities:
- Package products for shipping
- Build wood pallets and crates
- Sandblasting in booth
- Hand sanding wood and metal prior to paint
- Load and unload the paint booth
- Assembly of products
- Prepare packing lists, weigh shipments, and coordinate shipping
- Shop clean up
- Run errands locally and statewide
- Drive company vehicles for pick-ups and drop-offs
Experience & Education:
• High School diploma
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience with hand tools: skill saw, hammer, drill, tape measure, etc.
• Basic math skills

Summary
Managing and tracking multiple projects through the design/build process. Know the intimate details on a variety of projects to maximize a successful outcome on all levels. Coordinate project details to streamline work for the team. This includes sometimes producing part of the work, researching information, or setting up for the team to continue their work efficiently. Make pertinent project information readily available – communicate project parameters upfront and track them through the process. Manage schedules, manage costs, and work with the team to keep everyone on track.
Responsibilities—
- Oversee projects from start to finish
- Communicate upcoming project deadlines so that the team can plan
- Know the scope of work and contract requirements to prevent work outside agreed parameters
- Manage the use of materials to prevent unnecessary waste
- Interface with design and fabrication team, clients, and vendors
- Oversee multiple projects passing through the shop simultaneously with tight deadlines
- Track quality control checks
- Track projects that are sent out for specialty processes
- Research and record parameters of use for all materials used in fabrication for future reference
- Maintain well-organized and accessible records
- Care for clients and gracefully handle difficult situations
- Works alongside colleagues as needed
As project manager, you will be responsible for guiding projects – large and small through every step in the project and through the business. Must be able to prioritize schedules effectively, have an excellent memory for details, good command of sequence, timing and process management. Remain flexible and able to adapt to constantly shifting priorities and time schedules. It is your responsibility to be ahead of the team, guide the way — avoid potential obstacles, predict and overcome issues before they become one.
Design / Build Process — You will Track
• Award of contract
• Initial meeting/site visit

• Research and photo acquisition
• Development and review of interpretive recommendations
• Development and review of exhibit text
• Development and review of design
• Development of construction documents
• Hand-off to fabrication/production team
• Manage all aspects of fabrication based on design intent (color, material, size, function, interface between structure and graphic or interactive elements)
• Manage paperwork for shipping or installation (packing lists, installation instructions, maintenance manuals, etc.)
• Arrange for shipping and installation of exhibits (set up travel arrangements, coordinate with client, arrange for rentals, etc.)
• Project close-out: track final deliverables, client satisfaction, final invoicing, and reconcile costs.
Experience & Education:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of the design and fabrication processes
• Portfolio displaying projects that you managed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ownership, execution and accountability
• Flexible to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities at once
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques is a huge plus
