METRO REGIONAL GOVERNMENT OUTREACH

project date: 2000 | by peter reedijk

Oregon's land-use and transportation planning initiatives have led the nation for more than twenty years. The lower Willamette Valley's regional government, METRO, has been at the forefront of this initiative. METRO is the nation's only regional government; its jurisdiction includes three of Oregon's counties and twenty-five cities surrounding Portland, the state's largest city. During the summer of 1997, Sea Reach worked with primary contractor Studio Reedijk of Portland, Oregon as part of the team responsible for the design of a traveling bus exhibit featuring the finer points of METRO's land-use and transportation planning goals for the year 2040.

Sea Reach was responsible for completely refitting the bus to accommodate interactive multimedia exhibits, graphic panels, and a large exterior mural. In addition, Sea Reach undertook much of the exhibit fabrication and all of the installations.
