Sea Reach worked under contract with the City of Seattle, Washington on a comprehensive wayfinding system for downtown Seattle. The products developed include a design guide manual with construction specifications. The guide profiles the sign system, various design configurations based on site parameters, material and performance specifications, use guidelines, implementation schedule (with rationale) and a complete set of specification drawings for each sign type - including exploded axonometric views for easy installation.
The Seattle Wayfinding System is designed to link all modes of transportation into, around, and out of the city, providing a "seamless" information structure for both first-time visitors and repeat users. Integration of all types of media is key to a comprehensive and effective system.
The current implementation phase of the wayfinding effort is focused on the pedestrians portion of the system.
