ALSEA BAY OVERLOOK

project date: 2004 | by peter reedijk

Overlooking a huge mud flat, is a little park just as you enter Waldport from the north. The bay is inundated with water at high tide and looks like a lake, but at low tide you can nearly walk across it without getting wet. The interpretive sign is an illustrated "insiders look" at all the critters that live in the mud and the birds that feast on them. A spotting scope makes it easier to identify distant points of land and birds perched on stranded logs and debris. The bright color, chosen to reflect the sea sky, is easy to spot when traveling Highway 101.
